Wuji (non-duality) as the foundation of self defence (PART 1)

Posted on 14 May, 2023 by Sinclair Martial Arts14 May, 2023

A video starring “The Three Asians”

  • East Asian: Hsu Pei-Lan
  • Cauc Asian: Ian Sinclair
  • First N’Asian: Nick Nahwegahbow

“Taiji” or “Tai chi” refers to the dualistic nature of the phenomenal universe. Yin and Yang, up and down, this and that, past and present, me and not me, existing and “not existing.”

“Wuji” refers to non-duality, the infinite void from which all things emerge, wherein Yin and Yang are still and combine.

In martial arts, we cultivate an awareness of Wuji as our baseline of consciousness and action. Our ability to seek wuji and stillness is what enables us to adapt to the infinite changes. Wuji cannot be defeated.

In this video, Hsu Pei-Lan, a student of Baguazhang, drops in to train for a few days.
